Purpose: This article compare the easiness of cases depend on the crowding level in lingual orthodontic treatment.
Methods: Three Class I maloccusion with protrusion and crowding cases treated both lingually and got an optimal results are selected and divided by the severity of crowding. The leveling period, anterior retraction period and total treatment periods are compared.
Results: The total time consumption for the treatment of Class I malocclusion is almost same but the required time for the separate steps is different depend on the severities of crowding. The severe crowding case takes more time in leveling and the moderate crowding and mild crowding cases take less and least time. The time needed for the anterior retraction is vice versa.
Conclusion: The severe crowding requires more time in leveling stage and leaves less spaces for anterior retraction, so leaves less opportunities for the lingual tipping of anteriors. So the severe crowding cases seems easier to treat lingually without side-effects.
Key words: Treatment easiness, Crowding level, Lingual orthodontics
