Surgery First Orthodontic Treatment in Class III with Lingual Appliance (I)

Purpose: This case report presents an adult female with skeletal Class III jaw relationship treated by means of surgery first orthodontics and lingual appliances.
Methods: According to the decision based on STO (Surgical Treatment Objectives), to establish surgical occlusion and fabricate surgical wafer, the pre-surgical orthodontic treatment and jaw surgery was simulated on the articulator mounted model. And the jaw surgery was performed only in the mandible and orthodontic treatment followed by upper two first bicuspids extraction was done with upper Ormco 7th generation brackets and lower labial brackets.
Results: After the whole treatment, favorable facial profile and good occlusion was obtained.
Conclusion: With surgery first orthodontic treatment, we can achieve the treatment goal effectively and relatively in a short period of time.
